Microsoft went to great lengths to engineer a high level of backward
compatibility into Windows 7, and the transition from Windows Vista
to Windows 7 is likely to be less troublesome and complex than the
transition from Windows XP to Windows Vista.
However, we do NOT recommend
upgrading older computers to Windows 7 without running the
Windows 7 upgrade advisor tool.
Since it appears that Windows 7 will be installed on new
computers in primarily 64 Bit versions, it is also VERY IMPORTANT
to verify that any specialized software (like coaching
software) will operate properly on 64
Bit versions of Windows. In some cases, a
separate or different 64 Bit version of a software
application may be required, and in some cases, may not be
available.
The information below is designed to assist current and prospective
users of CompuSports software applications in determining the effect a a
transition to Windows 7 will have on the use of the current version of
each application.

Additional Software Application Notes
General
Windows DVD Maker is now included in most versions of
Windows 7. Windows no longer includes Windows
Movie Maker with Windows, though a new version called
Windows Live Movie Maker can be downloaded from Microsoft's
web site. Current Version is Windows Live Movie Maker 2011
and is much improved over the initial
version, especially when running on Windows 7 SP1.
Most computers that come with Windows 7 include a basic
version of Digital Multimedia software like Roxio
Easy-Media Creator or Cyberlink's Power Director.
There is usually and option to upgrade to a full
featured version that adds video capturing, DVD ripping
and other capabilities that make it more functional than
the new Windows Live Movie Maker.
Or, consider purchasing the AVS Video Converter and
related suite of products.

Easy-Scout Professional
and Easy-Cut
Both
Easy-Cut and Easy-Scout Professional are available now in 64 Bit
Versions for use with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
We continue to recommend AVI video files for video
editing, especially when working with these products under Windows 7,
although the Video Scouting functions work fine with
other formats including MPEG2 and MPEG4.
